August 18, 2020 - In many cities, commuting by bike is a labour of love and the Netherlands has transformed itself into a bike-friendly haven, investing in infrastructure to encourage citizens to adopt pedal power.
A total of 27% of modal travel in Holland is by bicycle, and networks with both covered and open air cycle paths, complete with specially designed bridges, subways and roundabouts, just for cyclists, are the norm. Include the world’s biggest two-wheel parking lot and their new age environment is what cities the world over are trying to emulate to help fight the pandemic and address many other issues including congestion, traffic, the environment and health.
