May 28, 2020 - (Montréal, QC) Quantum, the Montréal-based electric bike retailer and manufacturer, is now the exclusive distributor of Peugeot Cycles in Canada. Customers can reserve their Peugeot Cycles bike online as of May 28 and at Quantum’s retail outlet as of June 17. As cycling continues to evolve as a means of mobility and recreation, the announcement comes just in time for Canadian cyclists.
Peugeot returns to Canada after a 20-year absence
Despite the particular global economic outlook in a number of sectors, the future is bright for the cycling industry, as urban centres implement measures to encourage cycling as an all-season mode of commuting. Peugeot Cycles bikes are designed with expertise by the modern cycling pioneer, which was founded in 1885 and released its first line of E-bikes in 2009.
Peugeot and Quantum: a natural tandem
A forerunner in electrically-assisted bikes in Canada and the former sales director of a network of 300 E-bike retailers across France, Robert Guimond has acquired extensive experience and expertise in the European cycling industry.
“It felt natural for me to work in close collaboration with a French partner that is committed to adapting its bikes to the Canadian market. And Peugeot is such an iconic brand for Canadians and Quebecers. We all know someone who’s ridden a Peugeot! Quantum is very proud to be joining forces with Peugeot Cycles,” affirmed Robert Guimond, founder of Quantum.
Product lines
Peugeot Cycles will release three models in its Legend line, as well as the Draisienne balance bike for kids to meet a variety of needs, from urban bikes to road cycles and single speeders. Peugeot Cycles’ E-bikes will be available in the fall. An integral component of the brand for over a decade, the practical, efficient and environmentally friendly electric models are a pillar of Peugeot Cycles’ sustainable mobility offer.
Canadian development plan
The Canadian launch of Peugeot Cycles’ regular bikes is a first step, and a national E-bike development plan will be rolled out this fall. In 2021, Quantum plans to operate two distribution centres in Québec and one in British Columbia, where it will also open a new retail outlet. The partnership attests to the extent of Quantum’s expertise and will enable the company to reaffirm its presence and broaden its offer in Canada. The collaboration with Peugeot Cycles places Quantum among the leaders in the electrically-assisted bike industry in Canada.
