June 29, 2023 - (Givisiez, Switzerland) SCOTT Sports has been awarded the Eurobike Gold Award for 2023, with the SCOTT Lumen eRIDE 900 SL taking the prestigious accolade in a competitive field. “Innovation, technology, design are SCOTT’s core values and this vision runs through everything we do. We’re incredibly proud of this platform, and are delighted that the Lumen has been recognized by Eurobike as a product that sets the benchmark for what’s to come in the industry,” said Reto Aeschbacher, CMO at SCOTT.
The Eurobike Gold Award 2023 is the most prestigious award for innovative and high-quality new products in the bicycle and future mobility industry. The Gold Award not only detects current industry trends, but also aims to encourage the further development of product innovations and their successful positioning on the market by honoring outstanding innovations.
The Lumen eRIDE marks a decisive statement for SCOTT and the industry as a whole, establishing a new benchmark for what is possible in the space of integration and lightweight e-mobility – a goal that was made possible though our partnership with the innovative team at TQ.
SCOTT Lumen eRIDE 900 SL
The SCOTT Lumen takes the world’s fastest XC/Trail frame platform, the Spark 900, and adds completely silent and powerful electric assistance all while maintaining SCOTT’s legendary lightweight DNA.
The ride feel is like a regular bike: no need to think about a longer braking distance, pedal drag or weight, as it’s even possible to ride the bike with the assistance switched off. This is an E-Bike for a mountain biker, with all the benefits of a regular trail bike, now with added assistance to get you up those hills faster to enjoy riding further and for even longer.
The Lumen eRIDE 900 SL is the flagship model of the range, showcasing the platform’s ultimate potential by utilizing a premium package of materials and components, resulting in a low total weight of 15.5kg, the lightest weight e-MTB in the industry. This power-to-weight ratio is immediately apparent on the trails, making the rider feel like Nino Schurter on the climbs, while remaining nimble and highly capable on the descents.
The Tech Behind The Lumen eRIDE
We took the best Cross-Country/Trail platform to date, the Spark 900, topped it up to 130mm of travel, added a completely silent and powerful electric assistance, all while retaining its legendary lightweight DNA. When compared to the Spark 900, the Lumen has increased in total volume by just 17%, while housing motor, battery, linkage and rear shock. Besides creating the Lumen’s clean aesthetic, the integration of these features allowed us to engineer lighter, stiffer frames that performed better, for longer. SCOTT’s proprietary TwinLoc suspension system is connected to both the fork and the shock, offering a three-stage suspension adjustment that allows the rider to tailer suspension characteristics to the trail ahead at the flick of a switch on the handlebars.
Of course, the driving force behind the Lumen’s success is the TQ HPR50 drive unit. Integrated discretely into the frame, the motor delivers 50Nm of torque, drawing upon a 360Wh battery. An optional 160Wh range extender can also be mounted in place of a bottle cage for those extra long days. The motor output can be tuned to suit the rider’s preferences by linking the system to the TQ app, and built-in ANT+ allows compatible devices to be linked to the system.
The closer you look at the Lumen, the more deliberate detail you’ll find – with high-performance Syncros components, a minimalistic computer mount and a handy rear axle tool to cover you on the trail, it becomes apparent as to why the Lumen eRIDE is seen as the complete package.
