The Shimano STEPSE8000 eMTB drive system has been designed to magnify the best aspects of mountain-biking. With 70Nm of torque and focussed around maintaining a genuine MTB feel, the 250-watt STEPSmotor delivers power smoothly on climbs yet only weighs 2.8kg. This lightweight, intuitive motor allows the rider to fly down descents and easily switch between support settings via the handlebar-mounted Switch Unit, designed to mimic their XT Di2 shifting levers. The system also includes an LCD computer display on the handlebars, showing your power-support settings, speed, battery level and more.

Shimano's new compact City and Trekking E6100 system is 20% more efficient than its predecessor. Featuring 250 watts of power and 60 Nm of torque along with 418/504 Wh Li-Ion battery options, the range per charge is also extended up to 180km. Durable in all weather conditions, the Nexus 5-Speed internal hub delivers top-notch shifting. Other new updates include a narrower pedalling width for a more natural feel and a lighter 2.88kg motor. The Trekking version can be equipped with a Gates belt-drive system to avoid chain maintenance altogether.

The system's unique feature is a bottom bracket that's part of the frame (not the motor) for less creaking and limited wear. It can also be serviced, if needed, by local bike shops. Stromer's rear wheel hub system offers high-quality drive power and range with customizable riding comfort, smart extras and stylish colour choices for efficient mobility and intelligent commuting. Each motor features three levels of power assistance, can provide support of up to 45kph and can achieve up to 180km of range with the largest battery option. The Omni app is available on your smartphone or the integrated touch screen, allowing you to customize your bike settings as well as activate anti-theft features. The motor options include the Cyro Drive II found on their ST1 model which features 550W and 35Nm of torque, and the Syno Drive II on their ST3 model which features 600W of power and 44Nm of torque. The top-end Syno Sport on their ST5 model features 650W of output and 48Nm of torque.

The Fazua Evation e-bike drive system is the world’s first removable system and one of the lightest and most compact on the market. Designed to be entirely hidden by the frame, the sleek Evation system weighs only 4.6kg. It can provide up to 400 watts of power, boasts a natural ride feel and prevents resistance while coasting. Renowned for quiet e-drives, Brose is now offering a one-stop drive system with its own motor, battery and display options. The mid-drive systems are offered in aluminum or magnesium, making them lighter and more compact. New for 2020 are magnesium versions of the C Mag Drive for city cycling, along with the touring T Mag Drive which received a significant increase in range. Also new is a lockable 630Wh battery that can be easily removed from the bicycle frame for charging. Brose has also introduced three displays as part of their new one-stop Drive System: the Allround, Remote and Central, and they can all be retrofitted to previous versions of their product family. Take advantage of the new Brose Service Tool, a digital tool designed to simplify diagnostics, maintenance and updates. Along with providing full drive systems, all individual Brose components can be purchased separately.

At the top of the new Bosch Performance Line is the CX (MY20) model, a lightweight, precise, responsive power system that is optimized for eMTB bicycles. Featuring a PowerPack 500 designed for mountain bike adventures, this sporty and dynamic motor will feel right at home on steep and rugged mountain bike trails. Despite its raw power, it only weighs 2.9kg while providing a maximum of 340% of assistance along with up to 75Nm of torque. Its freewheel offers a natural riding sensation, and the system is complemented by an E-Live Valve electronically controlled e-suspension from FOX to update suspension settings up to 1,000 times per second. The Walk Assistance feature also provides support while hiking up steep grades and rooty climbs.

The Bosch Cargo Line e-bike system is a powerful drive unit that’s designed to transport up to 250kg in the city. Offering two options, the Drive Unit Cargo has a maximum assistance speed of 25kph, while the Cargo Speed delivers assistance of up to 45kph. The Cargo Line system features a maximum of 400% support and can easily accelerate from a stop, even with a full load. The system uses a network of sensors to continually optimize the power output, torque, speed and acceleration based on total load, pedal input and cadence. In total, the drive unit weighs just 2.9kg, ranking it as one of the lightest in its category. A DualBattery option allows, cargo bike riders to go even further. The Bosch Cargo Line offers a new way to deliver packages, run errands or even take the kids to school.

The Bafang M800 is an ultra-compact e-road power system designed to be quiet, lightweight, powerful and aerodynamic. The M800 comprises three parts: the 2.3kg motor, the 430Wh battery and the colour LCD handlebar display. Bafang uses speed and torque sensors to respond to on-road demands for optimized power output. With 200W of power output and a maximum torque of 55Nm, the unit’s total system weight is less than 4.4kg. The entire system can be hidden in the downtube and bottom bracket to maintain a sleek road-bike appearance. When not activated the drive train unit runs almost resistance free and is compatible with e-road, e- gravel and e-cyclocross bikes.
