Trek’s All-new Marlin+ Hardtail eMTB Gives an Electric Boost to the Trail

release by Trek Bicycles

February 2, 2024 - (Waterloo, WI) Today, Trek launched an all-new electric bike that brings its most popular mountain bike to a power-backed platform. The new Marlin+ builds on the fan-favorite Marlin and equips the do-anything hardtail with an intuitive Bosch motor that gives riders a comfortable, quiet boost everywhere from singletrack to city streets. It manages to do all this while still coming in at a lower price point for Trek electric mountain bikes, so riders can enjoy the best of both Trek and Bosch.

Marlin+ rolls ahead with all the versatility of its non-electric sibling, like a capable hardtail frame that’s equipped with a 120mm fork for flattening rocks and roots, plus front and rear thru-axles that keep handling precise. Wide, 2.6” tires give it plenty of grip, and Marlin+ comes ready to ride with smart wheel sizing. Frame sizes medium and up get fast-rolling 29˝ wheels and small and extra-small models feature size-appropriate, nimble 27.5˝ wheels.

At the center of Marlin+ is Bosch’s new Active Line Plus mid-drive motor. The Active Line Plus delivers 50Nm of torque for a quiet ride with smooth support, giving riders the boost they crave without feeling overwhelming. The motor is supported by a fully encased 400Wh Bosch CompactTube battery that optimizes energy density for a smaller, lighter package.

The 400Wh battery offers up to four hours of supported riding, and riders can add Bosch’s 250Wh PowerMore range extender to get an extra 60% of supported ride time.

Simplicity is at the forefront of every ride on Marlin+ thanks to Bosch’s new Purion 200 display and remote combo. The sleek remote provides essential ride data at a quick glance and skips unnecessary extras. An AUTO mode intuitively adjusts motor support based on terrain, conditions, and rider feedback, so riders can spend more time focusing on the ride ahead and less time worrying about settings.

Just like the non-electric Marlin, Marlin+ gives riders do-anything capability with mounts for a rack, fenders, and a kickstand. Riders can choose to keep their Marlin+ a true trail bike or add on all the bells and whistles for the ultimate all-terrain commuter.

The Canadian SRP for the Marlin+ 8 is $4,599.99 and for the Marlin+ 6 the SRP is $3,599.99.

Trek’s all-new Marlin+ is available at select Trek retailers around the globe and online in select markets.
