April 7, 2021 - Given their ability to haul groceries, kids, medical supplies, building materials and much more, e-cargo bikes are growing in popularity among families and businesses. As motors and batteries become lighter and more powerful, e-cargo bikes are being touted as the first or second family vehicle. There are two major design types, the first being where the cargo box area is between the rider and the front wheel. The second e-cargo design features a longer, more robust rear rack where the cargo area is behind the rider. Variations and innovations to these designs include trikes, rear box and double box options. With congestion and parking as major issues in cities, larger companies are also exploring e-cargo vehicles.
