US President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better Act Restores 30% eBike Tax Credit

November 1, 2021 - The latest version of the Build Back Better Act in the US restores the originally proposed e-bike tax credit to 30%. Initially proposed at that rate in the E-Bike Act by Congressmen Jimmy Panetta (D-Carmel Valley) and Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) back in February, the House Ways and Means Committee reduced the credit to 15% in September.

As part of President Joe Biden’s recently revamped climate-change plan, the credit is back up to 30% and capped at $1,500, but for a 5-year term as opposed to 10 years. The Bicycle Commuter Act benefit which offers employees up to 30% of the parking benefit, the equivalent of $81 per month, remains unchanged.

The act proposes $7.4 billion for e-bike tax credits to reduce emissions and transform transportation trends in the USA.
