June 17, 2024 - (Ghent, BEL) Velo-city is where advocates, cities, policy makers, researchers and industry leaders meet to shape the future of cycling and sustainable urban development.
Velo-city began in 1980 in Bremen. Since then, conferences have been held in cities all over the world, including Copenhagen, Brussels, Seville, Vancouver, Rio de Janeiro, Vienna, Adelaide, Taipei, Lisbon, Ljubljana and Leipzig.
Ghent is a charming pocket-sized city, exuding the vibrancy, bustling energy, and cosmopolitan bravado of a metropolis. The Belgian gem has long since placed the humble bicycle on a pedestal, earning its reputation as a cycling paradise.
Discover the high-quality Velo-city programme boasting 400+ speakers! Cycling connects places, it connects people and it can connect different modes of transport and sectors.
The Velo-city exhibition provides a unique platform for cities and regions to discover the latest cycling innovations and learn more about urban cycling infrastructure, policies, and initiatives.
After a very successful call for abstracts with more than 900 submissions, Velo-city has put together an extensive 80+ session programme covering all things cycling from building an inclusive bicycle culture to cycle logistics, safe intersections and better intermodality.
Delegates from around the world will enjoy a delightful evening in the exhibition hall on Tuesday June 18 as the City of Ghent invites all participants of Velo-city 2024 to a welcome reception.
One of the conference highlights is the Bike Parade. Every year, this event brings together Velo-citizens and locals for an epic bike ride with music and performances along the way.
