Why Dutch Cyclists, Motorists and Pedestrians Wait Less at Traffic Lights

release by Not Just Bikes

July 26, 2020 - In Amsterdam, if the traffic light suddenly turns green just as you get to it, it’s not a coincidence. Traffic lights are just smarter there. A lot smarter. And safer, too!

The Netherlands’ smarter and more sophisticated traffic lights also make sure that cyclists and motorists are not kept waiting at traffic lights for too long. It’s amazing what you can do when you design to move as many people as possible, instead of as many cars as possible.
