Yamaha 2023

October 20, 2022 - For the 2023 season, Yamaha unveiled its new PWseries S2 drive unit that’s much lighter, compact, and more powerful than its popular PWseries ST launched in 2018.

Yamaha’s new PWseries S2 drive is lightweight and compact.

Developed on the principle that “less is more”, the PWseries S2 delivers a torque of 75Nm and has an overall weight of only 2.85kg, making its torque-to-weight ratio among the best in its category. The 250W motor has five power support modes and a maximum speed of 25kph.

The PWseries S2 also features a 22.8mm shorter bottom bracket, which improves efficiency and feel, while the new ISIS bottom bracket interface offers increased rigidity. Fully compatible with a double front chainring, this new drive unit opens up new possibilities to bike manufacturers for sport and trail use.

With automatic assistance mode and Zero Cadence technology, the PWseries S2 offers an intuitive experience for daily commuting, hiking countryside, and mountain bike excursions.

Also new is a Display B unit that’s simple, durable and aimed at recreational cyclists who appreciate a “ready to ride” design.

In addition, Yamaha is relocating production of the PWseries drive units from Japan to its MBK Industrie factory in Saint-Quentin, France. The decision to relocate not only contributes to the company’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, but also reduces the cost of transport and lead times while offering greater flexibility in deliveries.

Holder of ISO 14001 certifications, for environmental protection, and ISO 9001, for quality improvement, MBK Industrie offers the highest levels of service to its European customers.
