October 29, 2021 - Yamaha takes its Pure Ride concept to the next level with the all-new PW-X3 off- road performance drive unit. This next generation eMTB drive is lighter, smaller and more powerful than before, and designed to deliver a pure and dynamic performance.
The new PW-X3 weighs in at a scant 2.75kg, 10% lighter than its predecessor. The 250-watt motor delivers 85Nm of torque; when combined with Yamaha’s zero cadence technology, it can dish-up instant power.
The 20% reduction in size allows for more freedom from eMTB manufacturers to create new frame concepts around the ultra-compact PW-X3, allowing for a more harmonious integration between frame geometry, suspension platform and ground clearance. The new motor also offers the narrowest Q-factor in the market, something appreciated by pro riders.
The PW-X3 has five modes of performance-enhancing assist, ranging from Eco to Performance. The drive unit’s Automatic Support Mode intuitively detects the terrain’s characteristics and supplies the right amount of assist to tackle any off-road encounter in the most efficient and effective way.
When riding is not an option, the new unit’s improved walk assist will be much appreciated.
