Yuba Bicycles Unveils the Kombi E5 a More Affordable Entry-Level eCargo Bike

release by Yuba Bicycles

February 12, 2021 - (Cotati, CA) Yuba Bicycles (Yuba), a global leader in cargo bicycles and accessories, today launched a new entry-level electric cargo bike designed to attract a wider audience of customers. Designed by its veteran team in Sonoma County, California, and based off of Yuba’s widely popular non-electric Kombi frame design, the Kombi E5 sets a new standard for premium quality mid-drive electric cargo bikes.

“When we launched the Kombi in January of 2020, the idea was to create a high-quality cargo bike that combined the characteristics of our Boda Boda and Mundo models at an attractive price-point,” said Benjamin Sarrazin, CEO of Yuba Bicycles. “That bike took off instantly, and we immediately started to design a version for those seeking to enjoy the e-cargo lifestyle for the same reasons. The bike was previewed to retailers in Europe a few months ago, and demand is strong. We expect the same in North America.”

Available mid-March, The Kombi E5 is powered by Shimano’s lightweight and reliable E5000 STEPS motor providing up to 20 MPH of assistance. It comes paired with a lockable Shimano 418Wh battery, and features Shimano Alivio hydraulic disc brakes for confidence-inspiring stopping power. The Kombi E5 is also equipped to connect with Shimano’s E-Tube Ride App, displaying speed, power levels, trip distance and more to the rider’s smartphone.

The bike features widely available standard 24″ wheels, offering a lower center of gravity for confident handling on the road. It’s no-flex steel frame can accommodate up to three passengers and up to 440 pounds of total payload. The bike can be customized to carry people or gear via numerous Add-On options that fit either the Kombi or Kombi E5.

Priced at $3,200 US MSRP, the Kombi E5 comes in orange with silver accents, and a silver with orange accent color offering as well.
