December 15, 2020 - Electric “Boris bikes” are set to be added to London, UK’s bike share system this April reports the Evening Standard. Transport for London says e-bikes could make cycling more attractive to a wider range of Londoners and will prevent the loss of customers to e-scooters and dockless e-bikes.
Introduced in 2010, London’s bike share system now has 14,000 bikes and 800 docking stations. Users have made almost 100 million trips, increasing by 6% each year, currently aided by the cycling boom due to the pandemic. A feasibility study suggests that e-bikes are expected to be introduced in April under a two-year revamp of the scheme.
