Boris eBikes to be Added to London, UK’s Bike Share System in April

Electric “Boris bikes” are set to be added to London, UK’s bike share system this April reports the Evening Standard. Transport for London says e-bikes could make cycling more attractive to a wider range of Londoners and will prevent the loss of customers to e-scooters and dockless e-bikes.

Introduced in 2010, London’s bike share system now has 14,000 bikes and 800 docking stations. Users have made almost 100 million trips, increasing by 6% each year, currently aided by the cycling boom due to the pandemic. A feasibility study suggests that e-bikes are expected to be introduced in April under a two-year revamp of the scheme.
