After More Than Three Decades Heiko Müller Bows Out of the Management of Riese & Müller

release by Riese & Müller

(Mühltal, GER) After 33 years, co-founder Heiko Müller will step back from the management of Riese & Müller on 31/07/2026. His departure ends the operational responsibility of the founding generation after Markus Riese had stepped back from the management in 2022.

When Heiko Müller and Markus Riese founded Riese & Müller in 1993, they combined the passion of re-imagining bikes and inspiring people about innovative mobility. Over three decades, an internationally successful company grew out of a student project. The company now ranks among the leading manufacturers of premium e-bikes and cargo bikes with around 700 employees and 1,400 dealers worldwide, and is setting the standards for sustainable mobility.

It was Heiko Müller’s vision and his forward-looking approach that shaped the company – above all, the early decision to focus on e-bikes, thus realising the full potential of Riese & Müller. Still to this day, the spirit of the two friends continues to shape the values of Riese & Müller.

“I look back on incredibly eventful years,” says Heiko Müller. “Riese & Müller has always been far more than just a company to me. It was an opportunity to work with great people to transform ideas into reality, and to contribute to more sustainable mobility. A new era with new tasks is just starting for me. As an active shareholder, I will remain closely connected to my life’s work. I will focus on lasting development and thus on safeguarding our family-owned company at our site in Germany.”

Dr. Sandra Wolf is CEO and will set the course for the future
As CEO and shareholder, Dr. Sandra Wolf has overall responsibility for Riese & Müller and, in this role, represents the family-owned business within the management.

From 01/08/2026, Dr Sandra Wolf will be supported by an additional Managing Director.

Riese & Müller will continue the path it has followed up to now with a strong management, dedicated leadership team and employees, and a clear strategic direction. The company will remain faithful to its commitment to develop innovative mobility solutions and actively shape the future of cycling.
