What began in the Eixample district of Barcelona in September with five families, who were fighting for a safer, more environmentally-friendly way for their kids to get to school, has grown dramatically and other neighborhoods are doing the same.

Police vehicles have started to escort the group, with officers traveling in the front, back and on the sides. Parents in the community are hoping for a school-friendly separated bike lane, free from the main traffic.
