California’s eBike Rebate for 1,500 First Round Vouchers Sees 100,000 in Queue & Frustration

California’s new e-bike incentive program which launched its first round on Dec. 18  for 1,500 vouchers saw massive demand as the queue reached up to 100,000 people with many left frustrated reports Streetsblog California.

The window to apply closed abruptly about forty minutes into the launch leaving some calling the process “a mess”, “a disaster and “rigged”.

The initiative by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) has been a long time coming and while there were no technical issues many who tried to apply were frustrated that there was a lot of waiting, with little communication about the wait.
