eCargo Bike Sales Boom up 36% in Car Centric Germany and Reshape City Streets

According to Germany’s bicycle industry association, ZIV (Zweirad-Industrie-Verband), more than 100,000 cargo bikes were sold in 2020, a 36% growth compared to the previous year reports Forbes.

ZIV forecasts another bumper year in 2021 and “last mile” deliveries by cargo bikes are changing the look of streets in many German cities claims Bike Europe.

Electric trikes with a capacity of 350kg are becoming the norm and a Dutch study concludes that cities are better served by lighter, smaller vehicles, noting that, “E-cargobikes are a great alternative for some 20% of all delivery vans currently operating in large cities.”
