EU Mobility Strategy is a Lost Opportunity Without Prioritizing Walking & Cycling

The EU Commission’s new strategy for sustainable and smart mobility sets an important framework, but falls short of boosting walking and cycling, the quickest and simplest key to create cleaner, healthier streets and communities claims Anne Stauffer, director for strategy and campaigns at the Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL) according to Euractiv.

In fact, cycling didn’t even make it into the Commission’s 10 action points for the sustainability shift, and it’s also key to boosting people’s overall health and increasing resilience against future pandemics.

Stauffer says that an EU commitment to active mobility would allow city mayors to double down on the necessary infrastructure for increasing health and well-being for residents.
