Eurobike Highlights: Gobao, Avinox, Amflow, Aventon, Canyon, Rad Life, Dahon & Grin Tech

by Benjamin Sadavoy

(Frankfurt, GER) Eurobike 2026 welcomed the global cycling community once again with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and top level politicians. While the size and attendance at this year’s show did not match previous years, there were plenty of exhibitors, interesting product developments, and breaking news on the show floor for eager attendees to take in.

Gobao had a sizeable booth that drew a lot of attention with its new and innovative X-Series e-bike drive system and X1 and X1P motors that feature its E-CVT (Electronic Continuously Variable Transmission) which combines the motor and a continuously variable gearbox that takes care
of shifting into a single unit – with an option for manual control – thus eliminating the need for traditional derailleurs.

The X1, for urban and trekking, offers 120 Nm of torque, 1,200 W of max power, a gear range of 400% and weighs 3.85 kg. The X1P, for MTB and cargo bikes, features 150 Nm of torque and 1,500 W of max power with 500% gear range and the same weight of 3.85 kg.

The new system offers two batteries that are optimized for the Gobao Supercharger. The 52 V batteries with 500 Wh and 750 Wh capacity use superfast charging cells designed for high charging currents – both batteries charge to 80% in 20 minutes according to Gobao.

Avinox recently launched its M2S and M2 motors (read more here) and took the opportunity at Eurobike to unveil for the first time their new Avinox MG Concept that combines the motor and gearbox into a single unit. The MG Concept is Avinox’s first concept product, created in partnership with Canyon, Commencal, Forbidden, and Mondraker that had units on display at the Avinox booth.

Key features of the new motor include smooth gear shifting, uninterrupted power delivery and a shift time of less than 0.1 second; fully customizable gear shifting, and the option to shift manually or automatically; little or no maintenance to the internal derailleur unit; a natural riding experience; real-time locking of the motor and use of the anti-theft function even without power; and the new platform’s drive units can be easily adapted to eMTB, eTrekking, eSUV, eGravel and other bike models.

Also presented at Eurobike 2026 was Avinox’s Smoothshift system featuring an electronic drivetrain. The new system allows the drive unit to detect gear-shift signals and shift the cassette smoothly, without requiring pedaling. Smoothshift was also on display on the new Amflow TL, an SUV-style ebike making its official debut at the show.

Amflow unveiled their new TL Carbon performance‑focused SUV e‑bike built for multiple riding options including trails, the city, and fully loaded for touring. The ultra‑light monocoque carbon frame, (approx. 2.9 kg), combines stiffness with low weight and is engineered for maximum efficiency, range and versatility.

At its core is an Avinox M2 drive unit, delivering peak output of up to 1100 W and a maximum torque of 125 Nm. A removable, 800 Wh high‑performance battery, with an optional range extender, offers up to 270 km of range.

The full suspension system, co-developed with Fox, features 120mm of front travel and 105mm of rear travel. Both front and rear wheels can be switched from 27.5-inch to 29-inch to match different terrain needs.

The total weight payload of 200kg includes the bike, front rack (max 20kg) and rear rack (max 27kg) loads, and a rider weight of up to 125kg. With its modular mounting design and MIK HD-compatible rear rack, the bike supports panniers, a bike trailer, and other accessories.

Aventon exhibited at Eurobike 2026 for the first time as part of their expansion into the European e-bike market. © eBikes International

Aventon officially announced its expansion into the European e-bike market in Nov. 2025 and exhibited at Eurobike 2026 for the first time following its European debut at Cyclingworld Europe in Düsseldorf at Areal Böhler in March.

Next up was E-Bike Days at Munich’s Olympic Park in April, Germany’s largest public e-bike test festival held annually in the spring.

At Eurobike, Aventon showcased their full-suspension eMTB lineup including their flagship Current EXP model featuring a carbon front triangle and aluminum rear, a RockShox Lyrik Select 150mm fork and 140mm Super Deluxe Select+ rear shock, along with Aventon’s new Ultro X mid-drive motor delivering up to 120 Nm of torque.

The Aventon Current ADV is an all-aluminum version that’s also designed around their Ultro X mid-drive motor with 110Nm of torque and is equipped with RockShox full suspension featuring a Psylo Gold 150mm front fork and a Deluxe Select+ rear shock with 140mm of travel.

Canyon also had a substantive booth and was highlighting several bikes including their Eurobike award-winning Roadlite:ON CF, a stylish and clean urban e-bike featuring a carbon frame combined with Bosch’s new rear hub motor and featuring integrated Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication technology which enables real-time, wireless communication between vehicles, infrastructure, and pedestrians. With support from Volkswagen, it marks the first time the automotive industry’s latest connectivity standards have been fully integrated into a production-ready urban e-bike.

Canyon’s novel Lux Era is full-suspension concept XC bike featuring a biplane cockpit, 32” wheels, upside-down forks and an aero profile. The wild, bi-plane cockpit enables riders to put their hands on the lower section of the bars for an aero-optimized position. The upside-down fork offers both superior high-performance riding and better aerodynamic performance thanks to narrow crown integration.

Canyon also showcased a production-ready all-mountain e-MTB equipped with the new Avinox MG Concept E-CVT gearbox motor.

Their prototype Stingr Smart helmet is part of a breakthrough Canyon Predict intelligent safety and performance system. The Stingr Smart helmet features data visualisations such as road hazards, the behaviour of other road users, group-ride dynamics, and advice on riding behaviour that can be displayed on the helmet’s heads-up display (HUD) which sits on the inside of a retractable helmet visor.
