November 6, 2026 - The National Bicycle Dealers Association (NBDA) has opened its 2027 NBDA Consumer Bike Survey, inviting riders across North America to share what they need, value, and expect from their local bicycle shops. The association is calling on the entire cycling industry to help generate thousands of responses and build a stronger understanding of today’s riders.

The research will help Specialty Bicycle Retailers make informed decisions about the products, services, and experiences that connect shops with their communities- from bicycles and accessories to expert repairs, bike fits, rentals, education, and opportunities to ride.
The survey takes approximately 20 minutes, responses are anonymous, and participation is open to riders across North America through December 15, 2026.
“Listening to riders is essential to building stronger bicycle businesses and growing participation in cycling,” said Heather Mason, NBDA Executive Director. “We need the entire industry to help us reach beyond our own networks. When retailers, brands, organizations, and individuals share this survey, we bring more voices into the conversation and create a more useful resource for the businesses and communities we serve.”
An Industry-Wide Call to Share
The NBDA is asking everyone connected to cycling to help distribute the survey:
• Bicycle retailers: Share with customers, riding groups, and local communities through email, social media, and in-store conversations.
• Brands and suppliers: Distribute through social channels, customer email lists, and retailer networks.
• Cycling organizations, clubs, advocacy groups, and event organizers: Invite members, participants, and supporters to contribute their perspectives.
• Individual riders: Send the survey to friends, post it in cycling groups, and encourage others to pass it along.
Participation and sharing are not limited to NBDA members. The goal is to hear from riders with a wide range of backgrounds, experience levels, interests, and shopping preferences.
Complimentary Report for Industry Partners Who Share
Brands, organizations, and retailers that share the survey on social media or distribute it directly to their email networks will receive a complimentary copy of the report when it is released. To learn more and claim a free copy, contact [email protected].
“This is an opportunity for our industry to come together around something that benefits all of us: understanding the rider,” Mason added. “Please share it with your customers, your community, and your network. Every response and every share helps us move toward our goal of thousands of rider voices informing the future of Specialty Bicycle Retail.”
