Thousands of Arkansans could soon receive financial assistance to purchase an electric bicycle through a new regional incentive program aimed at reducing emissions, improving mobility, and expanding access to alternative transportation reports Arkansasoutside and other outlets.

The Arkansas Tri-Region E-Bike Incentive Program is a regional initiative managed by the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission and Metroplan. The program plans to distribute at least 5,844 e-bike vouchers over the next two years across the Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers AR, Fort Smith AR-OK, and Little Rock-North Little Rock- Conway AR, Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs).
The initiative is funded through a $7 million Environmental Protection Agency Climate Pollution Reduction Grant – read more on the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant – and represents one of the largest e-bike incentive programs in the South.
Residents of eligible counties will have the opportunity to register for the chance to receive an e-bike voucher. There are two vouchers available. Residents who live in an eligible county and who are at least 18 years of age qualify for the General Resident Voucher, which can be redeemed for up to $700 off the purchase of an eligible e-bike from a participating retailer.
Applicants who are at least 18 years of age and who live in a household with an income less than or equal to 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) are eligible for the Income Qualified Resident Voucher, which can be redeemed for up to $1,200 off the purchase of an eligible e-bike from a participating retailer.
Beginning July 6, 2026, at 9 a.m., eligible residents can register through the program’s online portal. Registration will remain open throughout the program’s duration, with periodic voucher selection events scheduled through 2027.
Unlike a first-come, first-served rebate program, vouchers will be awarded through a randomized drawing process. The first selection event is scheduled for July 21, 2026, with additional rounds expected in October 2026 and April 2027.
Residents selected during a drawing will be invited to complete a full application and provide documentation verifying residency and, if applicable, income eligibility.
