Today is Earth Day and All Cities Around the World Need Your Support

release by the ITDP

As climate change and the global air quality crisis exacerbate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, never has the importance of a healthy planet and sustainable cities been so clear.

In China, as in many other nations, cycling has become the preferred choice of travel since the onset of the coronavirus ©

These uncertain times have underscored the best way to improve air quality and limit transport emissions: by giving people better, non-polluting options for short trips. Across the world, cycling and walking are surging in popularity. Cities from Los Angeles, California to Bogotá, Colombia are using temporary measures to create people-friendly streets, safe bike lanes, and expand e-mobility options. As a result, cities are reaping environmental benefits.

Now is the moment to make this shift away from polluting cars and towards sustainable, low carbon transport like cycling and walking a permanent reality. This Earth Day, give a $45 gift to ITDP to support sustainable cities and a sustainable planet.
